Discovering Toulouse

Toulouse is the capital of the southwestern region of France, located along the banks of the famous Garonne River. Let's discover the "Pink City"!

1- The Jacobin Church

This Jacobin convent is a true expression of the Gothic style of southern France. Finished in 1300, it stands out for its imposing dimensions, with a double nave and vaults that reach almost 30 meters. The best part is in the apse, where you can admire the palm tree, a column that culminates with 22 ribs that curve outwards to form the vault. In this church there are also the relics of Thomas Aquinas, one of the great thinkers of the medieval period.

2- Cité de l'Espace

A theme park entirely dedicated to space exploration: here you can spend a whole day exploring the wonders of the cosmos with a series of films and a fascinating planetarium. You can also set foot inside the Mir space station, which orbited the earth from 1986 to 2001 or admire a life-size replica of the European rocket Ariane 5, which has completed more than 70 successful missions since 2003.

3- Basilique Saint-Sernin

Tolosa
Completed in 1100, the Basilica of Saint-Sernin, listed by UNESCO, is perhaps the largest Romanesque church in Europe. The crypt also contains a large number of relics, more than in any other church in France, and many were donated by Charlemagne to the abbey that stood on this site in the 1800s. Outside, the five-storey brick tower is unmistakable, and looking up you can see where the construction was interrupted in 1100 and resumed in 1300 by the shape of the arches.

4- Cassoulet

It would be sacrilege to go to Toulouse and not try cassoulet. This bean stew is undoubtedly the most emblematic dish of the city, and comes in a variety of recipes. Although the most famous recipe consists of beans and cold cuts, the cassoulet of Toulouse contains beans and duck, although you can replace the duck with sausage.
