Discovering Tenerife

Not only sun and sea but also many activities in nature and delicious dishes to taste. Let's discover some things to see, do and taste in Tenerife!

1- Paragliding from the port of Izaña

There are several companies that are dedicated to exploit it commercially, doing training courses and tandem jumps. It is very simple, the instructor binds to the back, you run a few meters and, when you feel the traction produced by the swelling of the wing, you notice that the legs walk in the air. Jumping from Izaña you fly for half an hour over the beautiful valley of Güímar. On the left is the largest peak in Spain, the Teide. The crater of the volcano Cho Marcial is located to your right, while in front of it are the waters of the Atlantic. Under your feet, the pines give way to potato, banana and mango plantations first, and then to low houses.

2- Discover the underwater life by diving

The Atlantic waters surrounding the island of Tenerife are rich in underwater life and you can dive almost anywhere on the island and there are many diving schools where you can start from scratch or perfect your technique. Among the species that can be found under the waters surrounding the island are dolphins, whales and sea turtles.

3- Giants Cliffs

Tenerife
On the western tip of the island of Tenerife are the cliffs of the giants - in Buenavista del Norte and Santiago del Teide. In the times of the Guanches they were known as "the wall of hell" and still are today, with a height that in some places reaches 600 meters above the sea and the dark color of its volcanic lava. The bottom of the cliffs, about 30 meters deep, is still home to a great variety of underwater life.

4- Sancocho Canario

Sancocho Canario is a type of fish dish that is commonly eaten on Good Friday. Sancocho usually means stew, especially in Latin America. But in the Canary Islands the dish is presented without much sauce. To prepare this dish, preserved and salted fish is used - after soaking it for 24 hours, the fish is boiled with potatoes gently and served with your favorite mojo sauce.
