Discovering Porto

"The capital of the North" is a real feast for the eyes and a city rich of activities. Let's discover some things to do and see in Porto!

1- Enjoy the local gastronomic delights in the charming Pérola do Bolhao

What was once a ceramics and porcelain shop - to which it owes its striking art nouveau facade full of tiles - is today an establishment where you can find local products of the highest quality: cheeses, sausages, wines from different port cellars...

2- Go by boat along the Duero River

Six bridges connect the two banks of the river. The most charming are the ravelos, traditional in the city, which were traditionally used to carry the wine barrels from the vineyards to Vila Nova de Gaia.

3- The churches of Porto

Porto
Recommended even for those less fond of sacred architecture. The city has a good number of temples. The tiles that decorate their facades are especially striking. Don't miss these churches: San Francisco, the Church of Carmen, the Church of San Ildefonso and the Chapel of Souls.

4- Francesinha Sandwich

The Francesinha is a warm sandwich that will catch your eyes at first glance. The name literally means “little French girl”. This sandwich is an adaptation of the French toasted sandwich, croque-monsieur. A Francesinha sandwich is made with bread, ham, sausages, and steak. It is typically covered with melted cheese and an egg on top.
