4 things to see in Porto

Porto is a beautiful city in the north of Portugal: also called "the capital of the North", as opposed to the more central Lisbon, it inherits some of its distinctive features. Porto is a real feast for the eyes! Here are 4 things to see in Porto:
 

1- Louis I Bridge

This bridge is emblematic and advanced, it has two floors, an upper one of 390 metres and a lower one of 174 metres. In both floors there are walkways for people to walk over. At the top there is a panoramic view of the Duero that will make you fall in love with it.

2- Mercado do Bolhao

Near the Avenida dos Aliados is one of the liveliest spots in the city. You can buy meat, fish, fruit, flowers and many other products in a huge and decadent building that preserves the essence of Porto.

3- The churches of Porto

Recommended even for those less fond of sacred architecture. The city has a good number of temples. The tiles that decorate their facades are especially striking. Don't miss these churches: San Francisco, the Church of Carmen, the Church of San Ildefonso and the Chapel of Souls.
 

4- The wineries of Vila Nova da Gaia

In this place you can find most of the wineries where the Port is produced. If you like good wines, don't forget to visit one of these and enjoy a good tasting, of red and white. Among the most famous, Ramos Pinto, Sandeman, Ferreira and Calem.
