Discovering Tokyo

Tokyo is known for its modern touches mixed with the historical side of the city such as temples and ancient buildings. Not to mention the gastronomy! Here are some things to do, see, and enjoy in Toyko!

1- Sumo Museum

When you think of Japan one of the things that often comes to mind is its national sport, Sumo. If you want to learn more about this fascinating sport, the Sumo Museum will be the perfect way to learn more about Sumo (and it's free admission!). The museum is part of the Kokugikan Sumo Stadium in the Ryogoku district, where you'll find a wide range of exhibits such as paintings and prints chronicling the rise of sumo over the centuries.

2- Cherry Blossom Festival

Yasukuni Shrine is one of the best places to come if you're in Tokyo for the cherry blossom season (March to May). You'll be able to see cherry blossoms all over the city, but one of the best places to do so is precisely Yasukuni Shrine, which is also the home of the Sakura Festival and where you'll find around 600 cherry trees.

3- Senso-ji Temple

Tokyo
Tokyo's Asakusa district is known to be the home of the Senso-ji temple, which is one of the city's main attractions. The temple is covered with beautiful ornamental elements and sculptures. Outside the temple, you will find many stalls selling local art pieces, such as calligraphy works.

4- Sushi

It may sound corny but not trying sushi on a trip to Tokyo, the sushi capital of the world, would be a real shame. Good sushi can be found everywhere in Tokyo, from cheap and casual restaurants to renowned Michelin-starred establishments. Either way, of course, the sushi you'll eat here will be nothing like the sushi in the rest of the world!
