3- Norman Palace

One of the most visited monuments, the Palazzo dei Normanni, is the perfect representation of the cultural mix of Palermo. Built to house the Arab emirs, it was then occupied by the Normans who expanded it, and then by the Spanish. Today it is the seat of the Sicilian Regional Assembly. The jewel of the Norman palace is the Palatine Chapel, a masterpiece of the Arab-Norman-Byzantine style, considered by many the most beautiful church in Sicily.

4- The Cannoli

Perhaps the most famous of all Sicilian sweets, the Cannolo is a feast for your taste buds. Gourmets from all over the world are drawn to the coasts of Sicily to taste the authenticity of this extraordinary pastry. The Cannolo is made from a crunchy outer shell of short pastry combined with sweetened ricotta cheese inside. One of the oldest recipes for this Sicilian specialty comes from a convent in Palermo.
