Dishes to try in Vienna

Vienna, one of the European capitals of gastronomy, is home to many delicacies. Let's discover some dishes to try in Vienna!

1- Wiener schnitzel

One of Austria's national dishes, the Viennese schnitzel is certainly its most successful export. Made from a thin breaded veal cutlet and then fried in a pan in butter or oil, the schnitzel is served in restaurants and trattorias in the capital. Simple but delicious.

2- La Sachertorte

The Sachertorte is a symbol of the Austrian capital. It is a thick chocolate sponge cake, made with thin layers of apricot jam and covered with a semi-hard chocolate icing.

3- Apfelstrudel

Vienna
Another Austrian delicacy loved all over the world, the Apfelstrudel has gained popularity throughout Eastern Europe under the influence of the Habsburg Empire. It is typically made with a light, crispy dough filled with apples, sugar, raisins, lemon, rum, cinnamon and cloves. Often the strudel is garnished with breadcrumbs mixed with nuts and dusted with powdered sugar.

4- Austrian goulash

This Hungarian import has become very popular in Vienna and throughout Austria, adapted locally to become a characteristic dish. A hearty beef stew seasoned with tomatoes, onion and paprika, the version you will most likely taste in Vienna often includes Semmelknödel (dumplings).
