Our advice for a discovery trip to Lyon

Lyon is a large city on a human scale. The city abounds in places of interest thanks to its cultural richness and its strong historical heritage. We have selected our 4 best tips to enjoy your trip to Lyon:

1. Stroll in Old Lyon

The Saint John district is the historic part of the city. A part of its buildings date from the Medieval period but also from the Renaissance. You will be charmed by its cobbled streets and its atypical museums. You will find in Old Lyon, the Gadagne museum dedicated to the History of the city and the Miniatures and Cinema museum.
But during your detour in Old Lyon, it is essential to admire the magnificent Saint-Jean Cathedral with its 14th century astronomical clock.

2. Admire the Traboules

Known specificity of Lyon, the Traboules are located in the districts of Old Lyon and Croix Rousse. They are hundreds of crossings reserved for pedestrians who pass under houses and buildings to be able to cross from one street to another. Their architecture is truly unique and surprising. The longest Traboule is located at 54 rue Saint-Jean.

3. How to get to Fourvièvre Hill

Large stairs lead to the top of the hill but for the less sporty there is also a funicular that can be taken from the Vieux-Lyon metro station. At the top of the hill you will enjoy a magnificent panorama of the whole city with the Mont-Blanc in the background. At the top of the hill is the Basilica of Fourvièvre which is the religious symbol of Lyon. You will also notice at its sides a "small Eiffel Tower".

4. Taste the speciality of the praline tart

To finish on a sweet note, we suggest the famous praline tart. A speciality from Lyon prepared with crushed pink pralines. The praline is made of almonds coated with colored syrup. Enjoy your tasting!

In order to take advantage of these rich discoveries, take your flight to Lyon quickly!
