What to see during your stay in Venice

Venice is one of the most incredible cities in Italy. The City of the Doges has an impressive architectural and cultural heritage. This popular destination is also a well-known romantic landmark. Enjoy a stay of visits around its canals. Here is our top selection:

1. Saint Mark's Square

St. Mark's Square is surrounded by beautiful buildings. In the past these were the buildings where the public prosecutors of Venice lived and worked, built in the sixteenth century. Bordered by arcades, the square is lined with numerous cafes and stores. Situated in the heart of the city, it is the main square that is bustling with nightlife in the evenings.

2. The Cannaregio district

The Cannaregio district is pleasant to walk around. It represents a popular and lively district a little less touristic than the center. There is the Jewish quarter of Venice; the Ghetto. Pretty synagogues such as the Scuola Spagnola and the Scuola Levantina are located there. The Cannaregio neighborhood also has a beautiful palace, Palazzo Ca' d'Oro. In fact, its façade was originally covered with gold. It has a collection of Tuscan paintings, sculptures and ceramics.

3. The island of Murano

Situated north of the Venice lagoon, the island of Burano is famous all over the world for its lace. This fishing village is also known for its beautiful little colorful houses that line the canals. You can reach it by vaporetto from Venice. A typical fish market takes place regularly. And you can also visit the Lace Museum.

4. The Bridges of Venice

Venice has 177 canals and 475 bridges. The most famous is the Rhialto Bridge which is the oldest bridge in Venice. It connects the banks of the Grand Canal between the districts of San Polo and San Marco. It is an architectural masterpiece made of stone and marble from Istria. It is 48 meters long and 22 meters wide and rests on more than 6000 stilts. Three staircases are accessible to pedestrians and a double row of stores is established.
