4 things to see in Rome

Rome has some of the most iconic landmarks in the world, masterpieces of art and important antiquities. You can see the history of Rome at practically every street corner! Here are 4 things to see on a trip to Rome:

1- The Colosseum

The Flavio amphitheater, 2000 years old, is the largest ever built. Here the Romans attended the events of gladiators and other spectators. The restoration was completed in 2016, so now you can see the building in all its splendor!

2- The Sistine Chapel

You are not allowed to take pictures inside, so this is a wonder to look at for a long time only with your own eyes. And in any case, the photos of the ceiling masterpiece - Michelangelo's Last Judgment - do not do justice to the 16th century work of art. One of those works to see at least once in a lifetime!

3- The Pantheon

Rome
Originally built by Emperor Hadrian in 125 AD, the Pantheon is very well preserved. The protagonist of the show is the "oculus", an opening 9 meters in diameter (a hole where light passes through) in the ceiling. Suggestive the visit in bright sunny days, the beams of light illuminate the whole interior creating a unique atmosphere. Likewise, it is curious to go there when it rains, because you can see the water falling from the oculus "disappear" in 22 tiny holes.

4- St. Peter's Basilica

Michelangelo's dome dominates the skyline here and inspired the designs of St Paul's Cathedral in London and the Capitol Building in Washington. It took more than 150 years to build the Basilica. Inside, you will find extraordinary mosaics and works of art, including Bernini's canopy and Michelangelo's Pietà. The interior can hold 20,000 people, so even if there is a queue to get in, once inside you won't feel cramped!
