The 4 things to see on a trip to Istanbul

In this wonderful city nestled between Europe and Asia there are many monuments and works not to be missed. We have selected 4 of them to see at all costs during a visit to Istanbul, here they are:

1- Hagia Sophia

One of the oldest intact buildings in the world, Hagia Sophia is 1478 years old and has survived hundreds of dangers throughout history. Its age, size, magnificence, architecture and mystical atmosphere make it a unique place in the world. A place of worship of different religions for hundreds of years, today it is open to the public as a museum. Not to be missed!

2- Galata Tower

The Galata Tower (Galata Kulesi) is one of the tallest and oldest towers in Istanbul. The tower is 63 meters high and offers a panoramic view of the old city. Originally built in the 14th century, it was part of the defensive complex surrounding the district of Galata from which it takes its name. It was later used as a lookout point for fires in the city due to its privileged view. The view from the top of the tower is definitely worth a visit!

3- The Blue Mosque

Sultanahmet Camii, also known as the Blue Mosque, is one of the most majestic Ottoman mosques in all of Turkey and is located in the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul. The only mosque in Istanbul with six minarets, dates back to the early 17th century and is known as the Blue Mosque for the intense blue colour that decorates its interior. As majestic from the outside as it is from the inside, it is among the attractions not to be missed during a visit to Istanbul. The Mosque is always open for visits, except at times of Muslim prayer. Admission is free, only compliance with the Muslim dress code is required for women who must cover body and head.

4- Topkapi Palace

Topkapi Palace is the largest and one of the most popular sites to visit in Istanbul. Built between 1466 and 1478, it is a splendid example of Middle Eastern architecture. At Ataturk's disposal, the palace has been open to the public since 1924 as a museum. Getting lost in the unique atmosphere of this palace is one of the best things you can do in Istanbul.
