4 things to see in Bordeaux

Bordeaux is famous as the city of wine but offers much more! The old town or the Cité du Vin for example. Let's discover 4 things to see in Bordeaux!

1- Place de la Bourse

Bordeaux got rid of its ancient walls when this majestic square on the left bank of the Garonne was built in 1720. Designed by Jacques Gabriel, the square did not take long to become a symbol of the city. The Water Mirror, created by landscapist Michel Corajoud, stands out: it is a large swimming pool with little more than a film of shallow water, sometimes veiled by fog, reflecting Place de la Bourse.

2- Quais de Bordeaux

The left bank of the Garonne is one of the most beautiful river landscapes in the world. Majestic facades of large neoclassical buildings flank a promenade along the river 80 meters wide. Next to the Garonne, crossed by the numerous arches of the Pont de Pierre, there are benches, flowerbeds and meadows to relax and enjoy the view.

3- La Cité du Vin

Bordeaux
This ultramodern cultural center is a celebration of all that is wine, and is one of those ambitious and futuristic projects that is difficult to summarize in a few sentences. For the casual visitor it is a high-tech museum that teaches the history of wine, where and how it is produced in the world. The architecture of this 3,000 square meter building, with its 55 meter tower, is striking at first glance, and the tour culminates with a visit to the bar with a viewpoint where you can combine a glass of wine with a view of Bordeaux and the Garonne.

4- The wine cellars in the surroundings

At La Cité du Vin you can also get a lot of useful information to visit the surroundings of Bordeaux to discover the wineries of the region. Don't miss Saint-Émilion, for example, famous for its ancient stone streets, ruins and Romanesque churches.
