Travel does not always rhyme with ecology. But we hear more and more about "responsible tourism", which consists of travelling while having a positive impact on local populations and minimizing the impact on the environment. Simple gestures help to preserve the planet. Here are our 10 tips for responsible travel:

1.Choosing direct flights

When flying is the only option, choose the most direct flight to your destination. Indeed, the most important carbon emissions are those of take-off and landing. You can also choose an airline that offers a carbon offset program.

2.Travelling light

The weight of your luggage also plays a role in the CO2 footprint of your flight. So before you leave, we go to the essentials and take the minimum.

3. Using a water bottle

Take a water bottle with you when you travel, visit, walk... You will save dozens of plastic bottles and that means being more environmentally friendly.

4. Choosing the right sun cream

If you are lucky enough to go out in the sun, opt for a cream that is certified ocean-friendly. Many sunscreen creams contain nanoparticles that are harmful to the environment and which are released into the sea when you swim.

5. Having a reusable bag

For every purchase you make on site, be prepared and take a tote bag with you to avoid plastic bags.

6. Taking public transport

Once on site, use public transport. Especially at the exit of the airport, many cities have shuttles that will allow you to limit CO2 emissions.

7. Getting around by bike

If you have the possibility to rent bicycles, do so. It will make your visit to the city all the more enjoyable. Moreover, it avoids traffic jams and the bike is easy to park.

8. Choosing the right accommodation

Favour eco-responsible housing that will limit your energy consumption. Remember to look at labelled establishments.

9. Consume locally

Eating locally will reduce your environmental impact and will be ideal for a beautiful cultural immersion. Feel free to browse the markets if there are any and sample dishes in small, typical restaurants. Eat local and in season!

10. Buy local

You will surely buy some souvenirs but avoid tourist traps that have been made in other countries and then imported. So buy local, handmade and fair trade.
